Here's How Uranus Really Got Its Name

You may know that Uranus is the seventh planet from the sun. But did you know that it’s the third largest planet in size and the fourth largest planet in terms of mass in the solar system?

Starting from the very beginning, Uranus was discovered by astronomer William Herchel in 1781. At first, the astronomer thought it was a star or a comer! W. Herchel wanted to name the planet after King George III, but the planet was named after the Greek god of the sky.

What is more interesting, 25 out of 27 Uranus moons are named after characters from Shakespeare!

Besides that, even though Uranus is closer to the sun than Neptune, the lowest temperature was recorded on…… Uranus! That makes Uranus the coldest planet in the solar system.

One day on this cold planet is about 17 Earth hours and one year on this planet takes about 84 Earth years! Can you believe it?
